"Jalen Ramsey and Dolphins Reach Agreement on Three-Year Extension"

Jalen Ramsey is once again leading the cornerback market.

Reports confirm that Ramsey has signed a three-year extension with the Dolphins, making him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL. The deal is worth $72.3 million, with $55.3 million guaranteed.

At 29 years old, Ramsey still had two years remaining on his contract for 2024 and 2025. His new average annual salary of $24.1 million surpasses the $24 million per year that Patrick Surtain II received in his recent Broncos extension.

The Dolphins acquired Ramsey from the Rams in March 2023. Despite missing part of the season due to a knee injury, he played 10 games for Miami last year, recording three interceptions and five passes defensed. Ramsey earned his seventh Pro Bowl selection for his performance.

Ramsey has been a Pro Bowler every season since his rookie year, is a three-time first-team All-Pro, and won Super Bowl LVI with the Rams. Over his career, he has logged 97 passes defensed and 22 interceptions in 118 games.

Currently dealing with a hamstring injury, Ramsey has not practiced this week. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the extension was finalized a few days ago, but Ramsey wanted to be back on the field before the announcement. He is expected to return to practice on Friday and be ready for Sunday’s season opener against Jacksonville.
