Routh allegedly brandished an assault rifle outside Trump International Golf Club while Trump was playing the fifth hole on Sunday afternoon. Authorities reported that Routh managed to push the muzzle of his weapon through the chain-link fence surrounding the golf course.

At the time, Routh was approximately 300 to 500 yards from Trump. Secret Service agents spotted him and fired at him. Although Routh initially evaded capture, he was later apprehended by authorities. During his arrest, Routh was found with two backpacks and a GoPro camera. The rifle was recovered from the bushes near the golf course.

This marks the second assassination attempt on Trump in the past two months.
